I can't tell you how many times someone, a doctor, lawyer, plumber, upon realizing that I am an archaeologist, insist that it has always been their dream to go on a dig.
I usually smile and nod my head, not wanting to muddy the waters of their fantasy with the reality of what a modern field archaeologist must endure. The truth is that few of these people would be able, to hack it as a field archaeologist. The low pay, the non existent job security, the ticks, the heat, the time away from hearth and home would send them back to their desk job and 401K right quick.
But fear not my "want-to-be" Indiana Jones. You can keep you day job and still live vicariously through this blog.
